In short, Founder's Marketplace is a community where people gather to bring complimentary pieces of project teams together in order to develop and launch products. Those pieces might be ideas, critical skills, or money. Together, they combine all the elements needed to launch a product. "Cool idea, but how does it work?" you might ask. Well, allow me to explain. There are 2 initial phases to service development:
Phase 1: free forum
Users sign up, agree to the Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement (CDA) and Terms Of Service (TOS), then are allowed to enter the Ideas Market for free
The Ideas Market is a forum for collaboration: inventors post idea concepts, Subject Matter Experts (SME) discuss these ideas and offer their services
Agreements are reached between SMEs and inventors where SMEs work for a share of the project equity (e.g. I'll do the CAD for 30% ownership, etc.)
Projects in search of funding are presented in the Investment Market where site users can fund the project for a piece of equity
Vendors (IP attorneys, machine shops, 3D printing services, etc.) provide discounted rates to members of Founder's Marketplace
Ultimately, the inventor has reduced equity in the project but gets experts on their team for little or no $ investment and SMEs get to be a part of startup projects without risking their 9-5 job security
Phase 2: value added features
The site now facilitates matches between SMEs and inventors for the best skills alignment through a matching algorithm
SMEs have user ratings and skill sets evaluated by colleagues on the site to ensure quality control, a bit of gamification to help inventors select quality team members
Depending on a users subscription tier, the site will offer seats for various tools (Computer Aided Drafting, Finite Elemental Analysis, Statistical Software, Design Software, etc.), these tools are only active with a paid Founder's Marketplace memberships
Investors will have exclusive access to vetted projects made up of the best project teams with the highest likelihood of project success
